 Rachel

 Lead Therapist

I I’m Rachel, Mum to 6 incredible children  and wife of Carl. When I’m not busy being a  mum and wife, I’m very passionate about  supporting people with their mental health

My specialism is working with children and young people although I am qualified and  experienced to work with anyone who  needs me. I believe that no one should ever  have to wait to be supported and although I  don’t have a magic wand, I like to think that  my energy and drive for change comes  with a magic touch.

Our award-winning approach focuses on ‘ Inspiring Change’ and I am extremely proud  of the incredible brand I have created.
Alongside my counselling qualifications, I  have trained with a number of large  organisations covering subjects such as  Suicide, The Inner Critical Voice, Shame and  Baby Loss. Other qualifications include a  HND in Theatre in Education, HND in  Advanced Professional practice Working  with Children and Families and I am a  qualified Playworker with a Level 1-Teaching  Certificate. I also hold CACHE level 2  certificates in Adverse Childhood  Experiences and Behaviour That Challenges

I spent a number of years designing and    delivering training for the UK’s largest Tour    operator, recruiting nannies and children’s

reps to work all over the world, and  although I am happy to work with anyone  who needs my support, my focus tends to    return to children and young people.

I take great pride in my work and I’m very  passionate about what I do. I was awarded    the Sally Canning Coaching and Mentoring  award in 2024 and went on to be  recognised at the 2025 Notts Women’s  Business Awards for Community Impact.

I’m proud to be on the board of trustees for  Focus on Young People in Bassetlaw which i s a charity providing grant funding to  children and young people to help them  achieve their dreams and provide them  with valuable opportunities in life.

I absolutely love my job and I can’t wait to  meet you!

 Michele

 Therapy & Education Assistant

Hi, I’m Michele – proud mum to two amazing kids and a cheeky cockapoo called Pablo, who keeps us all on our toes!

I’ve always had a real passion for working with children and young people, and I’ve been lucky enough to spend my career teaching, mentoring, and supporting them in lots of different ways. Whether I’ve been in the classroom, supporting emotional well-being, or working one-to-one with families, my goal has always been the same – to help children feel safe, valued, and confident so they can flourish.

As a teacher, SENCO, and children’s mental health mentor, I’ve worked with everyone from tiny nursery starters to teenagers preparing for the next stage of life. I love creating fun, engaging learning experiences that meet each child where they are, taking into account their individual needs, strengths, and preferred ways of learning. I’ve also had the privilege of working closely with parents, schools, and specialists like educational psychologists and speech therapists – building a team around each child so they get the support they truly need.

I’m so excited to be joining Rachel and the team at Absoluteness, where I can bring together my background in education and my passion for emotional well-being. For me, this role is about making a genuine difference – inspiring children and young people to believe in themselves, helping them cope with life’s ups and downs, and showing them that they really can achieve amazing things.

 Steph

 Therapist

I’m Steph and I qualified as a counsellor in 2023. I primarily work with adults but I completed a placement and subsequent training at CASY which involved working with children and young people. I have worked for Womens Aid, Cruse, and NWCH in a counselling capacity, and am a trauma-informed therapist.

I am a person-centred counsellor, which means the client is placed at the centre of our sessions. Upon qualifying I decided to carry on with my training to enable me to offer Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, which can be useful for some issues including anxiety, phobias and unhelpful habits.

Counselling was a career change I decided on after a chance conversation in Ibiza made me aware of the lack of accessible counselling in the UK. My background is in neuroscience and I was a research fellow at the University of Nottingham. Counselling may seem different to this but as a self-confessed science geek I have a passion for behaviour and understanding why we do the things we do. I seek to provide a space for people to explore their thoughts, feelings and behaviours and understand how we process our experiences. Sometimes we all just need a space to talk.

Outside of the counselling room I enjoy spending time with my family, friends and variety of pets. I grew up in the countryside and have always loved being in nature, and in recent years I have developed a love of gardening. It is something I would love to bring into my practice in the future as I feel it is restorative to feel nature and see things grow.

I enjoy films, music and going to see comedians – it’s hard to feel sad when you are laughing or dancing!

 Jacqui

 Therapist

Hi, I’m Jacqui, married mum of one amazing son, a crazy chocolate labrador and two charming bunnies.

I am very excited to be a part of the team at Absoluteness and look forward to supporting you. My role within the business is supporting young people, adults and corporate clients. I have experience as a mental health first aider in the work place and my ‘real’, down to earth approach lends itself well this kind of work.

I have also recently completed a training course in Pet Bereavement which is something new for Absoluteness. We are now able to offer support following the loss of your beloved pet, recognising just how devastating this can be.

My journal into counselling began after experiencing my own personal grief. I found after experiencing a significant loss, being able to explore my feelings and talking about them, made me realise that I wanted to help others through their own struggles and give them their own opportunities to tell their stories and to not walk alone.

I qualified in 2023 and work in an Integrative way, this means I combine different therapeutic approaches to tailor a unique treatment plan for each individual, acknowledging that a one-size fits approach is not effective for everyone.

I’m very passionate about empowering and supporting people to change their lives and help them to learn the tools to help them in their journeys, helping them to understand day to day stumbles.

I am very proud of my qualifications, knowledge and experience gained from volunteering with several mental health charities, building up my professional development.

I have supported a number of young people on behalf of CASY counselling and I very much look forward to working with you..

 Jess

 Therapist

I’m Jess, mum of two boys and wife of Andrew.

Before becoming a counsellor, I was an administration assistant and part trained in accounts for most of my working life. In 2019 mine and my husband’s lives were turned upside down for a while following our young sons being involved in a car accident.

It was as a result of this that my counselling journey began. We tried to find support for us as parents, and of course for our boys as we navigated our way through the trauma of the events of that day, and at every turn to get help, we found blocks. In 2021 I started a new chapter in my life to become a counsellor as I didn’t want any other families to feel like we felt.

My main passion was to become a Children and Young Persons Counsellor. In March 2025, I graduated as a Counsellor for Adults and in July 2025 I completed specialised training which means that I’m now a qualified Counsellor for Children and young people too.

I had the absolute privilege of being able to gain valuable experience working at St Barnabas Hospice, providing compassionate counselling to those in end-of-life care. I was also able to support their family members.

I found this very rewarding and it helped me to realise that we can make a real difference during the most devastating times, during palliative care and also for those who have been bereaved.

Something that always stuck with me was when a friend said ‘out of something so bad came something so good’

I’m looking forward to making a difference and I’m excited to be starting a new chapter in my journey by joining Rachel and the wonderful team at Absoluteness.
